Equipping Classes

Wood Cross Close Up
Sunday School hour at Calvary has been renamed “Equipping Classes.”

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds, and teachers to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ until we all attain to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,  from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. – Ephesians 4:11-16

According to this verse, God has given pastors/teachers within the church to:

*Equip the Saints for the work of ministry
In order to build up the body of Christ, which means…
*Unity of the Faith
* Knowledge of the Son of God
* Maturity as the body of Christ
So that:
* We will not be deceived, by false teaching, but instead…
* Be built up in the love of Christ (15-16)

* Therefore, the teaching/equipping ministry of Calvary should be:
1. Practical (Equipping for the work of ministry)
2. Biblical (Unity of the Faith)
3. Theological (Knowledge of the Son of God)
4. Challenging (Helping the body grow in maturity)
5. Clear (Avoiding Deception of False Teaching)
6. Christ-Centered (Growing up into Christ)
7. Relational (Built up in the love of God)
