We’re meeting on the first Saturday this month—not the third—because we want to spend an hour prayerfully preparing the way for Monday’s Labor Day Cookout.We desperately need the Lord to do what we cannot do. We want to ask him:To provide everything we need—including good weather. No rain!To draw our neighbors to the cookout so that we can know, love, and serve them.To give us wisdom, energy, attentiveness, and joy.To put us providentially into the right conversations.To open doors for us to pray with people and speak about Jesus.To bring people to faith in Christ and add to the number worshiping him with us.We’ll have flyers available in case we meet someone we can invite, but the focus of the morning is prayer—not canvassing. Still, if the Lord puts someone in your path, stop. Talk with them. Learn their name. Invite them.Unless the Lord builds the house, we labor in vain. (Psalm 127) We can plan, invite, cook, welcome, and serve—but God must give the growth. So before we do all that work, we want to depend on him, thank him for what he has already done, and ask him to use this cookout for the good of our neighbors and the glory of his name.Saturday, September 5 10:00–11:00 AM Meet at CalvaryBring your kids! My kids will be there. Wear something comfortable for walking.And if walking is difficult for you, please still come. You can pray from one of the picnic tables or inside the church while the rest of us walk. The attached guide will help all of us pray together, whether walking or seated.Come on—get up, get out the door, and come pray with us.
